SIP trunks that make your existing PBX cheaper
Happy with your phone system but tired of the phone bill? SIP trunks replace your old PRI or copper lines with internet calling. Same phones, same system, a much smaller monthly bill.
A SIP trunk is a virtual phone line delivered over the internet. If you have an on-site PBX from Mitel, Avaya, Cisco, NEC, Panasonic, Grandstream or an older 3CX, we can usually connect it to Canadian SIP trunks and retire your PRI or analog lines.
You pay for the numbers you keep and the minutes you use. No more paying for 23 channels on a PRI when you only use eight at a time. If the PBX is too old to speak SIP, we can add a gateway or move you to a hosted 3CX system.
What is included
- Canadian SIP trunks with per-minute billing
- Works with 3CX, FreePBX, Asterisk, Mitel, Avaya, Cisco, NEC, Grandstream and more
- Local and toll-free numbers on the trunk
- 911 address registration per number
- Failover routing if your site goes offline
- Gateways for older analog or PRI systems
An example
A Surrey manufacturer with an old Mitel
- Before: a PRI and six copper lines costing hundreds a month
- After: SIP trunk into the same Mitel, same desk phones
- Main number ported, fax line kept on a small adapter
- Result: the monthly bill drops to numbers plus minutes used
What it costs
Numbers are $5.46 a month each with 911. Calls within Canada are about 1.09 cents a minute out and 1.89 cents in. There is no per-channel charge.
SIP trunks: common questions
What is the difference between SIP trunking and hosted VoIP?
SIP trunking connects a phone system you already own to the phone network. Hosted VoIP gives you the phone system itself, in the cloud. If your PBX is old or out of support, hosted is usually better value.
Does my PBX support SIP?
Most systems made after about 2010 do. Send us the make and model and we will tell you.
Is SIP trunking reliable?
With a business internet connection and proper quality-of-service settings, yes. We also set failover so calls go to mobiles if your site loses internet.
